                                      • The imperative

                         1 Read the theory.

                                             • We form the imperative with the base form of the main verb. Close the
                                                 door, please!

                                             • We form the negative imperative with do not/don’t and the base form
                                                 of the main verb. Don’t listen to music!

                                             • We use the imperative to:
                                             • give orders: Don’t talk! Be quiet!
                                             • give instructions: Put the sugar with the butter in a bowl first.
                                             • make offers: Have some milk.
                                             • make requests: Don’t eat here, please. or Please don’t eat here.

          2 Look at the pictures from a shop. Then, complete the
                 sentences in the imperative form in your notebook.
